A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
