From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
